Nike Announces New Ecodown Jacket

For all of the eco-conscious street wear lovers.

Brands are constantly looking for ways to reduce their impact on the environment and these days it’s expected of them. In a world where we are starting to call out fast fashion, you have to be ahead of the curve. Nike has announced a new Marble Ecodown jacket for women, along with initial visuals for the garment. There isn’t a launch date for the drop yet, but watch this space.

The jacket is shown in a grey marble colorway, perfect to mix with any colors. Nike shows that form, function and footprint can all come together to create a good look. It’s constructed with 100 percent recycled materials and also has a transparent polyester shell filled with Thermore Ecodown insulation.

Creative director Jessica Lomax stated, “A jacket is a relatively simple object. There are only a few choices you can make that won’t compromise a jacket’s quality: it has to insulate you from the cold, and it has to be lightweight and durable. Thinking about this, I ask myself three questions: 1. Can we choose friendlier materials? 2. Can we use patterns or trims differently to cut back on waste? 3. Where do we source common features like zippers? Can we use recycled ones?” Nike is looking to the future with sustainable design.
