‘A Century of the Artist’s Studio: 1920-2020’ Looks Behind the Scenes of Some Favorite Artists
The exhibition will be open from February 24th to June 5th, 2022.
‘A Century of the Artist’s Studio: 1920-2020’ walks visitors through 100 years of artists’ creative spaces allowing a rare glimpse behind the scenes of some favorite works of art and the artists that created them, including Pablo Picasso and Andy Warhol. The exhibition, therefore, interestingly delves into notions of space and the roles that they played in the creation of art and vice versa. The walkthrough also demonstrates how these spaces vary from artist to artist.
By giving the public a look into the creative spaces behind great pieces of artwork and extremely talented artists we are able to see these artworks in a new light as they demonstrate the character of the space in which they were produced which reflects not only on the artist but also the work itself. The comparison between the origin of a Picasso versus a Warhol, for example, can be very telling and can shed light on both the artist and the work produced out of that space as well as the artistic process behind the work and how the art and the space work to influence one another.
The exhibition is now open at Whitechapel Gallery and will remain open until June 5th 2022.
