Netflix Premieres Its Preview Of Upcoming Anime Series Yasuke

Lakeith Stanfield stars as samurai of the show.

Netflix has come through with the latest series to binge for anime watchers! The production company shared the trailer for its upcoming anime series, Yasuke, set to release at the end of the month.

Starring American actor and musician, Lakeith Stanfield, as the lead role samurai, Yasuke is created and directed by LeSean Thomas, alongside Studio Mappa, while the original soundtrack comes from record producer, Flying Lotus.

Based on a real-life story of a Black samurai who lived in war-torn feudal Japan in the 16th century, the narrative follows his struggles to live a peaceful life following a past filled with violence. According to the Netflix synopsis, “when a local village becomes the center of social upheaval between warring daimyo, Yasuke must take up his sword and transport a mysterious child who is the target of dark forces and bloodthirsty warlords.”

In 2017, FlyLo worked on the soundtrack for the animated prequel to Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner 2049, titled Black Out 2022. This year, he posted his passion on Twitter: “Working on anime is my new favourite thing. I think imma try n stay a while. Can happily keep doin it. Makes sense to me.”

If it makes sense to him, it makes sense to us and we’re thrilled to see his development. Have a watch of the new Yasuke trailer above, set to arrive on Netflix on April 29.
