Netflix Is To Add 40 New Anime Titles This Year
Anime fans, watch out!
At Tokyo’s AnimeJapan 2021 Expo last week Netflix announced their plans to launch 40 new anime titles this year.
It was noted that Netflix introducing new series was maybe an effort to increase their Asian and international audiences, seeing as the majority of the west already have a Netflix account.
The 40 new titles include Record of Ragnarok, Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness and the highly anticipated The Way of a Househusband, the tale of a gang leader turned stay-at-home dad.
The popular streaming service has steadily increased their catalogue of anime series and films over the past few years. The genre has immense influences in the world of fashion and music. Netflix almost monopolized on the genre by adding prominent titles such as Attack on Titan and One Punch Man to their service.
It has been previously suggested that some of the titles that Netflix have produced, such as Neo Yokio, have been aimed at a western audience. But their recent announcement conveys their seriousness when it comes to anime.

Netflix has ventured into other ways of attracting a more international audience. They have been actively producing more Korean dramas such as Love Alarm and Itaewon Class, to coincide with the growing interest in Korean culture due to the rise of K-pop. Spanish dramas such as Money Heist and Baby have also piqued the interest in viewers internationally and the Japanese drama Alice in Borderland was extremely popular at the end of last year.
Netflix plans to release the 40 new titles over the course of the next year, so anime fans keep an eye out!
