Sustainable and chic eyewear for SS21

POSTED BY CATHERINE SHUTTLEWORTH

Nanushka is the budding sustainable brand that has been spotted on people from Michelle Obama to Frankie Bridge. For Spring/Summer 2021, the founder and creative director of the brand, Sandra Sandor, has created 12 unisex silhouettes that centre around her enthusiasm for minimalism.

The collection offers a wide range of styles, with shapes varying from cat-eye, square, and aviator. In a press release, Sandor shared, “it’s only natural that we would expand the Nanushka world to incorporate sunglasses.” And the label hasn’t limited itself to just one ‘look’ which always refreshing. There are intricate gold designs as well as oversized pieces. Whilst sticking to fairly neutral colorways, Nanushka has still managed to offer something new with tortoiseshell and gray leopard print being two designs that really catch the eye.

Sticking to the brand’s eco-ethos, the frames are made out of plastic sourced from natural and renewable materials. The pouch which the sunglasses arrive in is crafted from the brand’s staple cruelty-free vegan leather.

Further, in a press release, Sandor shared “as functional and stylistic accessories, they lend a true sense of creativity, an exploration of innovative techniques, of contrasting shapes and forms, light and dark, that is at the very heart of our design philosophy.”
