Mugler’s FW23 Runway Return Gave Serious Attitude
It had that bad b*tch energy.
In Mugler's much-anticipated return to the runway, Casey Cadwallader showed he wasn't playing around with a comeback that left the fashion world stunned.
Presenting during Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, the ready-to-wear show was there to standout with an abundance of stars including Dominique Jackson, Ziwe, Paloma Elsesser, Irina Shayk, Adut Akech, Anok Yai, Arca, Aweng Chuol, Mariacarla Boscono, Debra Shaw and more fiercely owning the runway. Models sassily flipped their hair, interacted with the audience and worked a camera whilst stood on moving platforms as the film was projected during the show.
Taking place at Paris’ cultural complex La Villette, the show marked three years since the last presentation, due to the pandemic, and the first show following the death of Thierry Mugler in January 2022 - yet Cadwallader managed to keep the French house’s experimental spirit alive.
Wearable yet still avant-garde, black leather, lace and sexy cuts made up a large part of the Fall/Winter collection. Leather corsets were paired with soaring thigh-high boots; sultry lace bodysuits had bold cutouts and ruched details, whilst exaggerated futuristic silhouettes were found in the daring designs. The collection also showcased Mugler’s latest it-bag and Cadwallader’s first purse for the house, the Spiral Curve 01 - a chic curved mini bag.
Good news: there’s no need to wait, with the brand having adopted a see-now-buy-now model, the collection is available online.
