Movement Matters: Fringe Is Your Closet’s New Best Friend

We’re all aware of the 2026 shift from clean girl aesthetic to messy girl. Boho chic, a style that I hopped on immediately after its resurgence, is back in our hearts and our closets, and bold colors and prints are finally having their moment, proving that 2026 fashion is about expression, not neutrality. I’m personally bored with last year’s flat outfits, the ones with no texture, no movement, and no drama. 

I think the runways felt my boredom. For Spring 2026, collections from Calvin Klein to Chanel have come up with the perfect solution: fringe. 

I’m excited to move on from a year spent in stale neutrals. For years, fringe existed somewhere between the rodeo and the desert, worn by western and festival girls, an uncharted territory for me. The closest I got to exploring fringe was my 2023 flapper girl Halloween costume, but even then, my frock included very little of the real fringe material. 

Spring 2026 lines are reintroducing fringe in a way that feels polished, intentional, and surprisingly chic. The best part is that fringe is no longer reserved for costume parties or themed dress-up days. From full-fringe maxi dresses to small tassels at the end of our sweaters’ hems, fringe is here to help us elevate our pieces from basic to exciting. 

Whether it be subtle and tailored or messy and wild, it’s safe to say that I will be incorporating fringe to liven up my wardrobe.
