Miu Miu's Fifth Upcycled Collection: Denim-Takeover

Are you ready to fall in love? Miu Miu's fifth Upcycled collection focuses on denim, a timeless and stylish fabric, we all know and love. Back in 2020, Miu Miu launched an upcycling program to pay tribute to the history of fashion while preparing for the future. The project ensures a collaborative design practice that transforms old items into modern necessities. Bringing the beauty of the past into the present and future.

Fashion experts are said to have traveled the world in search of the world's rarest original vintage pieces to create the new garments. But most importantly, the “Miu Miu-ification” of these pieces add to the appeal. Keeping the brand’s DNA untouched, but adding a typical Miu-Miu feel to the collection. 

Each button is carefully disassembled, then reattached and engraved with the Miu Miu logo. Each drawstring jacket features a cropped silhouette, wild suede trim and black zippers in place of old-school front buttons. They remind us that they are more than just clothes, they are wearable pieces of fashion history.

Photographer Tarek Cassim captures models Alice McGrath, Wenqing Liu, and Ana Elisa Brito's upcycled clothing in a series of collages and artfully cropped portraits that reflect the meticulous process of remaking each piece, while also serving as a tribute to the garments themselves.
