Misa Hylton’s Fashion Academy Receives Grant from Gucci
Hylton’s triumphs reach new heights as her academy gets backed by Gucci.
Misa Hylton’s success has dominated the fashion industry for years, and she’s on no course to stop there. The legendary stylist has now announced that the Misa Hylton Fashion Academy (MHFA) has been awarded a special grant from Gucci.
From Mary J. Blige to Puffy, Hylton has created numerous innovative looks that helped make fashion what it is today. Remember the iconic ‘90s music video “Crush on You”, where Lil’ Kim made a statement in vibrant furs? I mean, how could we ever forget.
Seamlessly pairing hip-hop and high fashion, Hylton’s aesthetics were ahead of her time, and many have come back in style today such as the signature thick lip liner and glossy leather jackets. No one can really mix culture and creativity quite like her.
One of her current projects is supervising the MHFA, a school based in New York that aims to help the next generation of creatives striving for a career in fashion. Established in 2012, it consists mostly of black pupils who want to become revolutionary designers and stylists.
The MHFA has recently gained more recognition through the support of Gucci, who offer a Changemakers Impact Fund, awarding up to $50,000 to non-profit organizations. The academy was selected alongside 15 others and will help provide greater opportunities for black children.
Yet again, Misa inspires us with her amazing work for the industry, and we can't wait to hear more.
