Marketing: A Fun Fashion Explanation

What is marketing?

POSTED BY JESSICA LIMACHER

Like the warm, fuzzy cling of a knit cashmere in the winter, marketing is everywhere, it breathes Advertising, product, logic and, emotion.

Much like a cup of tea, marketing is integrated into our lives universally (especially if you are British, talking of the tea of course), it loudly smacks us in the face; Saying buy me!buy me! with its whimsical yet promising outcome.

The benefit of marketing is not just for us, to get our fat wallets out and scream ‘yayy!’ new silky smooth Chanel lipstick that you heard your mum rave about, But to drive economy and brand awareness.

YES!, The stickiness of a brand… that gets us from inquiry to purchase, be, it squeaky leather shoes, a warm creamy succulent latte via Starbucks or that cute boy in the beauty shop, where you get your favorite serum, plus you know you get a wink and if you can, stop your self from falling head over heels eeek.

So, how is marketing around us?

It’s a vehicle for pushing images and not just Google ads. Like the trendy samba by Addidas with their various collaborations, marketing is exactly how they got into the hands of Rishi Sunack, liked or not, it caused hype around the brand and a share of imagery that went viral.

Marketing can be cozy, and intellectual with its approach. It’s not just a push of images or products but of an emotion, like when you watch a Disney movie, for instance, 'Up’ emotional right? but also heartbreaking if the main character gets hurt. it takes an emotional scene to grab you and that’s marketing alright!

Not in the typical sense but emotionally it gets you hooked like that of a fleshy fish on a captain's hook, who feels sorry that he has to gut it out later. The point is to hook you into a brand or concept through emotional engagement that is rewarding for you or the brand, in this case, the man is rewarded by eating the fish and getting fed tonight.

So, how do marketing people do this?

Well picture elves in Santa Workshop, creating a toy but instead of delivering the toy without notice, they have to strategize. Work their magic ( brain ) for research, finding the target audience ( yes you!), they do this by finding out or conceptualizing an idea of age, gender, income and location. Much like the stalker down the street, that already knows your dog’s name, ‘Yikes!’

Marketers want you to be the ideal candidate for their product or rather they the right candidate to fit into your Manolo Blank, newspaper-heavy life, because who doesn’t need new heels?

In the warm hands of a marketer comes their partner, and oh is he Mr. Right.

Branding, branding is key. This is a marketer communicator. Branding's job is to get its logo on, this can be through color, slogans, and imagery. Hiring creatives like Narrative Studios professional photography ensures your brand looks polished and stands out.

Both create value for you through quality and great service. so, it’s not just about money and greed. reminder: pay the bill you haven't paid for a month or you’ll get mail! Marketing creates meaningful customer bases and can enrich many lives. so if you do find something being advertised as quality, luxury, or trendy just picture those magic elves at work brainstorming and trying to get their message out to sell for Santa, and if the marketing is done right, you get another great pair of Manolos Blahnik to add your collection.
