Louis Vuitton's Futuristic Cruise 2022

See Nicolas Ghesquière's spacey vision.

POSTED BY SOPHIE GROSVENOR

Louis Vuitton’s cruise 2022 was taken to Cergy-Pontoise, just outside of Paris, by Nicolas Ghesquière. The runway was staged at Paris’s Axe Majuer, designed by Dani Kanavan.
For cruise 2022, Louis Vuitton’s creative director Nicolas Ghesquière wanted to produce a vision of hope following the year and a half long Covid-19 pandemic, so he created a collection of vibrant and bold silhouettes to bring a sense of fun into the mix.

Ghesquière’s imagination has always captured been captured by science fiction, so he sent looks of the 60’s space race on to the runway. This season saw his take on a space frontier given in colour and eye-catching prints on shift dresses and A-line coats. Louis Vuitton is known for excelling with their bags and this season gave us everything. There are new additions to Monogram since 1854 and multi-coloured versions of their signature bags. Something new for the season: Oversized chain straps have taken over leather ones and now come in a range of pop art-worthy colours.

We also see shift dresses with unusual hems, kitted tube tops layered under embellished vinyl pinafores and panelled tailored jackets. Glittering evening dresses were paired with mod-ish boots with the house’s monogram, jackets embellished with feathers paired with kitten heels and swingy blouses. The designer also added a series of leather pants that referenced his other hits- including his Balenciaga SS07 ‘robot leggings’.

The collection is now available to shop from Louis Vuitton
