Lorde Doesn't Give A Fuck If You Hated Her VMAs Dancing

“I just danced. I just danced! And I danced with full fucking joy.”

People don't seem to like Lorde's dancing too much. She was criticized for pulling out her “zombie dance” at the 2014 Grammy's and mocked for what some people have called “awkward” dancing while performing “Green Light” on Saturday Night Live. Now the 20-year-old has come under fire for battling through her flu and doing a beautiful and heartfelt silent interpretive dance to “Homemade Dynamite” at the VMAs.

The musician spoke out about the performance in an interview with the WTF with Marc Maron podcast. “It’s sort of embarrassing to watch someone experience intense joy. Way more than pain… and I think that’s why people find what I do quite disconcerting,” she explained. “People got, like, so angry about me performing at the VMAs. I just danced. I just danced! And I danced with full fucking joy. Some people were like, ‘We get it, we love it.’ And some people were like, ‘This is offensive that I have to watch this.’” “It’s really like, changed my life... being very unafraid of intense joy publicly. And privately,” she continued.

Chill da fuq down everyone and let our girl dance the way she feels! Full respect to anyone who can let go of any inhibitions and get loose in front of an audience. Listen to Lorde chat on the WTF with Marc Maron podcast here.
