On April 9, the Melodrama mastermind wiped her entire Instagram and website clean, signaling the start of something new. Then came the TikTok. In it, she’s stomping through NYC, clipped into a carabiner (because why not), and singing a cryptic new lyric:
“Now we wake from a dream, well baby, what was that?”
Fans? Unhinged. Tate McRae? Commenting “OMG.”
It’s been four long years since Solar Power, and Lorde seems to be following her very intentional, very on-brand four-year release cycle. She’s always said she moves slowly — but deliberately.
“I do a lot of research, I write a lot down,” she told Ensemble in 2023. “It’s been super exciting and I feel excited about what’s coming.”
We don’t have a title, a tracklist, or a date — yet. But one thing’s clear: a new Lorde era is upon us, and it’s not here to play nice.
