Kourtney Kardashian Shares Importance On Teaching Her Kids About White Privilege
“Allow conversation without judgement, and learn from our children too.”
Kourtney Kardashian took to Instagram to share why it is so important to have conversations on racial injustice and inequality with her children. She stressed the significance of having “uncomfortable” conversations, and opportunities for her to learn as well as her children. In the post, the Poosh founder stated, “As a mother, there is a natural instinct to protect my children from anything that might make them feel sad or unsafe,” adding that “the pain and suffering inflicted by racism is not a thing of the past and I bare the responsibility to speak with my kids honestly and often about it.”
The murder of George Floyd by police on 25 May has sparked global outrage and incited international riots, forcing people to acknowledge the blunt truth of systematic racism. It has encouraged many of us to become more active towards the cause so future generations are not met with the same trauma. Kourtney further maintained that she felt she had “always been on the right side of this,” but acknowledges she has a lot to learn so that she “can be a better mother, a better auntie to my nieces and nephews, a better friend and a better person.” You go, Kourtney.
