Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s divorce has been one of the most discussed celebrity separations that we have witnessed since Kardashian filed for divorce in February of last year. After a year-long ordeal filled with various dramas; including album releases, wedding dresses and of course the ongoing Pete Davidson debacle, the first stage Kim and Kanye’s divorce has officially been finalized.

Kardashian, who has now officially dropped ‘West’ from her name, requested a ‘bifurcated divorce’ which means that the divorce will be settled in two parts. Kim’s change in marital status and the removal of ‘West’ from her surname was the first step in the process and the second part will deal with the more complex elements of the split such as custody and the division of assets. Kanye originally disputed Kim’s request to be considered legally single, which was filed for almost three months ago, but Kim argued in her court filing that she feels that the termination of their legal marriage will help Kanye accept that the marriage is in fact over.

Although, it appears that Kanye is not ready to let the drama of their separation go as he chose to release the music video for his song ‘Eazy’, featuring The Game, amidst the finalization of the first stage of their divorce. The video has been critiqued for its violent imagery which shows an animated Pete Davidson being kidnapped and buried alive. The lyrics also speak heavily of Kanye’s divorce from Kim and align with the violent imagery in the music video as he raps “God saved me from the crash, just so I can beat Pete Davidson’s ass” further directing the music video at Pete, if the uncanny resemblance of the animation was not enough.
