Inside KITH Women X Barbie’s 60th Anniversary Celebrations
KITH Women and Barbie are coming together to celebrate 60 years of dress-up and childhood dreams.
New Yorker lifestyle brand KITH Women has announced its latest project: a collaboration with Barbie to celebrate the icon’s 60 years. In a blogpost which was published to KITH’s official website, founder Ronnie Fieg explained that, “for sixty years, Barbie has been an international pop-culture phenomenon offering girls around the globe a chance to play, tell stories, and, most importantly, to dream.” Are you nostalgic yet?
Now comes the fun part. The collaboration plays off on three different levels. The first one will see customers style one of four different Barbie dolls with items from a custom-made KITH Women clothing line (in doll sizing, that is) during a pre-booked styling session. The final looks are then being photographed and assessed by a five-strong panel jury, including Fieg, Jackie Kim and other industry professionals. The six chosen looks will be posted to KITH’s official social media accounts where the public can choose their favorite doll. The winner will become “the official limited-edition KITH x Barbie doll, to be released in late 2020.”
From 21st September until 2nd October, customers can visit KITH’s Soho flag store to explore Barbie’s long history, starting off with her cult-classic black and white swimsuit in the late 50s. And if that’s not enough, KITH is distributing limited-edition KITH x Barbie’s 60th Anniversary T-Shirts among the first 200 exhibition visitors. So, what are you waiting for?
