New and exciting ice cream flavors are created every year, but this latest combination isn’t one you’ll want to try. Thousands of boxes of ice cream have tested positive for COVID-19 in a factory in China reports Plant Based News.

This news broke following a discovery made by government officials at the Tianjin Daqiaodao Food Company in north China, however a handful of batches were sold before this was realized. The 1,662 employees are now reportedly in quarantine after almost 5000 investigated boxes had tested positive. Press states that 935 boxes had been handed to market for sale and a further 65 boxes had already been purchased.

But how did coronavirus survive in the cold treats? Well, a virologist stated that it was likely due to the ice cream’s fat content and low temperature. Further experts have stated “We probably don’t need to panic that every bit of ice cream is suddenly going to be contaminated with coronavirus.” So, no need to worry about the Ben and Jerry’s in the fridge.
