If you’re determined to lose weight, one thing that might knock you off your path is feeling shame and uncomfortable about your body size. But there are ways to feel confident about yourself now while pursuing a healthier you.

Everyone Starts Somewhere

You might look around the gym and feel discouraged if everyone around you looks lean. But the reality is that they probably weren’t always fit. The reality is that everyone starts somewhere, whether it’s plus-size or thin and out of shape. That doesn’t mean that you don’t have every right to go for the type of exercise that you like the most!

Yoga for overweight people is a great example. To get the most out of the class, listen to what your body is telling you about your limits when it comes to the different poses. Over time, you will likely start to see improvements in your breathing techniques, flexibility, and confidence in your body. Try using a resistance weight too if you want to increase the difficulty level.

Remember, the only bad workout is the one you never got to. Any kind of movement is better than none.

They’re Focusing on Themselves, Not You

If you step out for a walk or do another fitness activity, you might obsess about what people think when they see you. Perhaps you wonder if they’ll judge your curves.

But, here’s the reality: They’re focusing on their own health. Most people set out for their workout with a goal, such as running 5K.

There’s no mention there of criticizing those who they come across during their exercise regime. So, do your best to focus on your own weight-loss journey. You deserve this! Concentrate on using weights with the best form and reaching deeper into yoga poses. Put your energy into doing your best during each workout rather than putting it toward worrying about what other people think.

Beauty Comes in All Sizes

Supermodels today are not only those who are thin. There are plenty of gorgeous plus-size models, including Candice Huffine and Tess Holliday.

As the famous saying goes, “beauty comes in all sizes,” and that’s the truth. While you might only focus on what you feel is lacking, instead start to notice how you’re toning muscle and gaining endurance with each workout. You’re sure to begin liking more about your body than before.

Appreciate your beauty and know that the people who love you genuinely are those who adore your spirit rather than your physical size. You’re sure to come to appreciate more than ever how your body moves with yoga or another activity and get to understand better the mind-body connection.

Assess How Far You’ve Come

A big part of keeping up your confidence level is measuring your successes over time. It doesn’t have to be huge wins; the small ones matter too! For example, those first five pounds loss can be an amazing first step in the right direction. Then look at how your jeans fit looser than they once did.

Are you feeling stronger? Can you lift more weights in a shoulder press than you could before? Take the time to assess how far you’ve come, and you’ll feel fantastic about yourself.

If You Start to Plateau

At some point in your weight loss journey, you may find the scale doesn’t go down. Even though you’re still working hard, the number isn’t decreasing on the scale. That’s called a plateau, and experts say it’s normal.

A common reason for it is that your portion sizes have increased over the months, and your activity level has decreased. After losing weight for a while, it’s natural to pay less attention to your diet and physical exertion, even just a little. If this issue happens to you, don’t overreact. Instead, plan to add variety to your diet and examine if your portion sizes are too big now too. Try some new healthy recipes, and try not to snack late at night.

Remind yourself too that you’ve come a long way, and you’re looking amazing. Even if it takes a bit longer than planned to get to your goal body size, you’re on the right path, and that’s what counts the most.

Final Words on Improving Body Confidence

You’ll feel good and look good in your own eyes too as you lose weight in summer or any other time of the year and keep it off over time. While you were beautiful, to begin with, you’re likely to enjoy your additional flexibility and strength with time.

Keep your head high and look forward to the next health goal – You can do this!
