How To Avoid Daily Food Waste
A simple, but genius refrigerator hack
Ever found dry cucumbers or withered lettuce in the corner of your fridge and chucked them away like the planet wasn’t damaged enough already? We’ve all been there. With this simple refrigerator hack though, we can learn how to avoid food waste, an issue US seriously need to tackle. You can thank Denise Bustard, PhD, the author of Sweet Peas & Saffron food blog, who came up with the ‘use me first’ bin. Placing a container in your refrigerator will help you to get it more organized and prioritize which fruit and veg you should eat first. Half-used products, squishy berries and food about to expire could all go in there, so you’ll never miss them again.
Dr Bustard gives a few tips to make the ‘use me first’ bin work even better. Place it in a plain view and use a larger-sized container that could fit more veggies. A clear one is also recommended cause it will immediately remind you what is left. And this is how you can prevent food waste. Mother Earth and your wallet will defo appreciate it.
