How Relatable is Netflix’s Sex/Life?
All you need to know before Season 2.
Sex/Life was created by Stacy Rukeyser for Netflix, that premiered in 2021. Over 65 million households have since viewed the raunchy show. In addition, Netflix revealed that the famous scene, which trended on TikTok, has been rewatched by 20 million users at least once.
The show was inspired by the novel, '44 Chapters About 4 Men', by BB Easton. The plot of the series follows the journal entries of a 40-year-old woman. Billie lives a luxurious life, is happily married to a successful businessman, and is a mother to two young children. As a stay-at-home mom, Billie uses her journal to reminisce on the life she had before she settled down. However, it's not long before those memories are dominated by steamy and spontaneous nights with her ex-boyfriend and adrenaline junkie, Brad. But of course, her past life with Brad is a secret that she has kept from her husband for years, so Billie must face these thoughts on her own.
Inevitably, Billie finds herself asking those questions: What is he doing now? What could have happened? And could I be happier?
Sarah Shahi, who plays Billie, and Adam Demos, who plays Brad, made their relationship public on Instagram in January 2021. The couple discovered their chemistry on and off camera, and fell in love while filming the show.
But, Billie and Sarah have more in common than just their looks…
In 2009, Sarah Shahi settled down with actor Steve Howey - who is most famous for playing the role of Kevin Ball in the US Shameless series, and Van Montgomery in the TV series Reba. In that time, the pair had 3 children. Sarah Shahi and Steve Howey were married for 11 years, until their divorce was finalized in January 2021.
Season 2 of Sex/Life is set to be released on Netflix, on March 2nd, 2023.
