House of Sunny Goes All Out For AW21

Popular East-London Brand Wows Us Again

POSTED BY CATHERINE SHUTTLEWORTH

Well known for their Hockney Dress, which earned the title ‘dress of the summer’ last year after the likes of Kendall Jenner was seen out in it, the brand quickly gained popularity. Every ‘it’ girl on Instagram can be seen wearing their pieces, including Emma Chamberlain. Fresh colorways and restocks of the Hockney Dress mean it is often the staple piece that comes to mind when someone mentions House of Sunny.

Adapting to the current state of the world, the brand revealed their Autumn/Winter 2021 collection on Instagram, with hundreds of people tuning in to the live reveal. After much anticipation for this release, they did not disappoint. The drop featured lots of prints, and pastel-psychedelic colors, representing an escape from our current reality into a more dream-like world. The infamous Hockney Dress had several makeovers, with new colorways including – lemon yellow, pale blue, ocean blue and an updated edition of the original green. We also saw a long-sleeved blue version of the dress, a perfect way for House of Sunny to also win the title of ‘dress of the winter’ later this year.

Another iconic piece from the House of Sunny archive that saw a makeover is the Peggy Cardigan – another cult classic amongst the brands' fans. This time giving it a more winter look. Founder Sunny Williams told Vogue, “the vivid tones are partnered with deep chocolate and mid-blue shades, offering an ideal combination for the spirit of winter.”

Aside from new takes on much-loved pieces from the brand, we also saw new items altogether. Viewers were wowed with fun trousers prints, cosy knits, pleated skirts, and beautiful tees. At times it feels like we’re being transported to the 60s and 70s with various motifs nodding to that era. It seems Williams knows exactly what we need during this time, saying “we wanted something more imaginary and more ‘take me away’ in our ready-to-wear line.” After all, once lockdown ends we can show off our new House of Sunny pieces to the world!

House of Sunny has stuck to their ethos with this collection, offering both style and sustainability. The entire collection is up on their site for pre-order now, and it is a limited run. This is to ensure that there is not too much waste produced whilst products are being made. Allowing the brand to be as environmentally conscious as possible.

It seems House of Sunny is getting bigger with every collection, be sure to prepare yourself to see the brand all of your Instagram this year.
