Girls Who Walk To Cure Loneliness

Girls are popping up all over the world to cure loneliness.

The loneliness epidemic has been in the public consciousness for a while now, with loneliness becoming much more prevalent in young people it has become a massive issue within the growing mental health problems we are seeing. Unfortunately, there has been little to no solutions as to how we revive offline communities to the way they used to be. That was until the arrival of Girls Who Walk.

These groups definitely come from the same place as the Hot Girl Walk. We've all learned how much a simple walk can improve our mental health, sometimes it's all we need when we're in a slump. A walk with friends is that kind of boost multiplied by ten.

But these groups make it clear that it's not necessarily a thing to do with friends but instead where you meet new friends, and from the groups who have been running for a while you can see the bonds that can form.

The groups are super inclusive too, anyone who is a woman can walk with them. This means groups can include anyone from students to grannies. Especially important to their inclusivity is that it's a space for mums with young kids, a group that can often be excluded from so many spaces. Motherhood can result in the worst loneliness so to make space for mothers is vital work in feminist spaces.

There are groups all over the world now, each giving a new set of girls a chance to meet new friends, better their mental and physical health, and take the first step in building stronger communities within their city. They also get to meet all the dogs they could possibly hope to because, of course, this is a dog-friendly movement.
