Gigi Hadid Donates Her Fashion Month Earnings To Ukrainian Refugees
The model follows in Mica Argañaraz's footsteps and pledges to donate her earnings from the Fall 2022 shows to Ukrainian relief.
Gigi Hadid announced on Instagram yesterday that she will be donating her earnings from this past Fashion Month to “aid those suffering from the war in Ukraine, as well as continuing to support those experiencing the same in Palestine.” This follows fellow model Mica Argañaraz’s decision to do the same, for which Gigi gave her credit. Hadid has been an avid advocate for Palestine and has publicly used her platform to support this cause throughout her career, as has her fellow model and younger sister Bella, and so it is not surprising that Gigi has also taken this opportunity to publicly support Ukraine and assist with financial aid.
Hadid addressed the controversy surrounding the continuation of Fashion Weeks across Europe in light of the Russian invasion of Ukraine by stating in her caption “We don’t have control over most of our schedules, but we would like to walk ‘for’ something.” It is important to see members of the fashion community and celebrities that have platforms standing up in support of Ukraine. Various fashion houses that have displayed their Fall/Winter collections at this past fashion month have also donated to Ukrainian relief and/or paused their sales and businesses in Russia as a way to show support for Ukraine in this time.
