Let's Get To Work With Avenir's SS25 Collection

At this past Berlin Fashion Week, the casual luxury of the Spring/Summer 2025 collection by label: Avenir captured our attention immediately. This unusual event location on the lively Potsdamer Platz pedestrian zone served as a preview to the conceptual presentation of Berlin-based sustainable fashion label Avenir as “COMMUTE”. Established in 2020 by designer Sophie Claussen, Avenir showcased a ready-to-wear collection with a seamless marriage of everyday life and high fashion, all while staying true to their sustainable roots.

Taking inspiration from the lives of daily commuters, "COMMUTE" highlights the individual yet shared experiences, one faces during their commutes to work, through innovative designs paired with bold accessories. Among the pieces that attracted attention to the collection were statement gold earrings in the shape of train tickets, an oversized clutch with a quirky street map print, and an array of gorgeous patchwork-core coats and all in all outerwear. 

The show underlined the collective aspect of the everyday commute: a unification of random faces with different personalities, lifestyles, and routines that make up the diversity of commuting culture. One of the pillars that defined Avenir's SS25 collection was the concept of sustainability in staying true to high fashion. Practicality meets style through this collection that speaks volumes about urban living, through meticulous design and strong sustainable practice.

Various materials were used including cotton, linen lambswool, poly-chiffon blends, and denim that were upcycled from leftover stock or repurposed. It is a key factor for the label that production, upcycling, and reducing waste is an integral part of their core. Making the label not only stand out from the masses but also gives them a very modern and conscious touch. 

The models walked down the catwalk with a focused expression, paying homage to the small details of the experience of daily commutes, as walking to work.

This label continues to push the boundaries of its style with "COMMUTE", mixing functionality with avant-garde design and showing the importance of sustainability in this industry. Avenir's SS25 show is far more than simply a fashion show, it is a nod to the universal but personal day-to-day commute of working people worldwide.
