ARKET Launches Sustainable Patchwork Denim Collection

Style and Sustainability - what more could you ask for?

POSTED BY CATHERINE SHUTTLEWORTH

ARKET is launching another sustainable collection! This time we’re seeing patchwork denim – a trend popping up all over our Instagram feed. The pieces are made using vintage fabrics obtained through the brand’s recycling program with I:Collect. Similar to the brand’s other sustainable initiatives, the production involves upcycling technologies which allow ARKET to create designs that have a more cyclical product life cycle.

The collection features a skirt, bucket hat, tote bag, jackets, and jeans, designed for women and children. The fabrics are cut and sewn together to create an irregular pattern, meaning every item is unique.

It’s about time brands start creating sustainable collections, especially when it comes to denim. It can take up to 1,800 gallons of water to make a single pair of jeans, and most of them end up in a landfill. Jordan Nodarse, the founder and creative director of environmentally conscious LA-based denim brand Boyish, says “the fashion industry is one of the largest polluting industries in the world, with jean production at the forefront of this phenomena.”

So, if you can, always try to shop responsibly and sustainably. And what better way to start your eco-friendly shopping habits, than by purchasing from ARKET’s collection! Shop the collection here.
