Celebrated graffiti artist Futura is currently exhibiting hand-pained light sculptures in Noguchi Museum in Queens, New York as part of the ‘Futura Akari’ exhibition running from November 11, 2020 - February 28, 2021.

Futura is a self-taught pioneer of graffiti whose career began on the very streets of New York in the 1970s. Since, Futura has created vibrant abstract works and bought his designs to the streetwear world.

The collaboration of two iconic artists in their field will show Futura’s work featured on Isamu Noguchi’s critically acclaimed light sculptures.

To celebrate the exhibition, Futura and Takashi Murakami have created two limited edition prints titled intermezzo TFBLK and intermezzo TGWHT selling for $2,250.00. A set of 100 will be sold at the Noguchi Museum: 50 online and 50 on-site and a further 50 will be released in the Kaikai Kiki Gallery in Japan.

Murakami’s work draws inspiration from Japanese pop culture, history and fine art. He creates paintings, sculptures and films "populated by repeated motifs and mutating characters of his own creation” according to his online biography

Noguchi Museum have said, “In August 2020, FUTURA2000 was scheduled to have a solo exhibition at Kaikai Kiki Gallery in Tokyo, opening on what would have been the eve of the 100 metres gold medal finals at the Tokyo Olympic Games. That exhibition has been rescheduled to August 2021, but this correlating edition—a symbolic gesture of Futura and Takashi’s relationship and a cultural dialogue between Japan and the United States”.

The sale of the unframed prints is limited to one per buyer and all prints will be available to ship internationally.
