Former Moschnio USA Employee Is Suing For In-store Racism

And using racist code words for shoppers.

POSTED BY DAISY RILEY

A former employee of the West Hollywood Moschino store is suing the company for racism.

TMZ reported that Shamael Lataillade is suing for personal discrimination and racism against clients.

She claims that her supervisor in the store made racist comments and mocked her as ‘someone who practices voodoo’. And also that the staff of the store used the code word ‘Serena’ to talk about black shoppers, whom they often followed and watched closely as they ‘didn’t look’ like they could afford the products.  They apparently also sometimes went as far as to take down a ‘Serena’s’ number plate.

Unfortunately Lataillde lost her job when she spoke out about the use of this discriminatory code word, the choice of the name ‘Serena’ is a shocking link to the racism that the athlete Serena Williams continues to suffer.  The fashion industry seems to be taking steps towards more diversity, but this incident shows how far there sill is to go.
