Acne Studios and Fjällräven have joined together to create arguably the most Swedish collaboration to ever exist by crafting a one-off unisex collection.
This collaboration marks the first-time outdoor indie brand, Fjällräven (translated to arctic fox), has ever partnered with another brand.
Renowned for the staple colours and practicality, Fjällräven became widely known for their brightly colored Kånken backpacks. Originally the go-to bag of choice for Swedish school children, the Kånken was designed to help prevent back problems until the iconic bag was swiftly adopted by hipster culture worldwide.
The brand’s ability extends to more than just backpacks, as proven in their capsule collection with another Swedish indepdent brand, Acne Studios. The collaboration combines the minimalism and style of cult favourite, Acne Studios with the statement colors and functionality of Fjällräven.
The collection consists of staple pieces which acknowledge their Swedish identity by inclusion of faux fur trims, an abundance of camo print and designs with the country’s blue and yellow flag stitched on. The collection celebrates the outdoor legacy of Fjällräven, in a way that captures the timeless style of Acne through hats, T-shirts, sleeping bags and functional trousers that feature zip-off legs.
One of the most notable pieces is the modern rework take on the classic Kånken as the collection features three different designs of their bag. This includes the original backpack, a messenger bad and a clutch, giving it a new lease of life.
