Female Masturbation Can Open ‘A Portal To Hell’ Apparently

It’s not a new belief that masturbation is bad but over the last few decades society had become a lot more sex-positive. Slower to the movement was the idea of women masturbating but those who live in a liberal society have experienced emancipation of the pussy. Sadly, the more we talk about female masturbation and orgasms in more positive ways, the backlash from puritans, misogynists and religious fanatics (or more likely a combination of the three) has also become more apparent- especially in the United States.

This week has seen one of the more bizarre attacks on female sexuality courtesy of Mack Major of Eden Decoded in Florida. The Christian author is adamant that female masturbation is leading civilization straight to hell, and has published an open letter condemning the act. He for some reason believes that getting yourself off could literally summon a demon straight from hell.

“Masturbation is a direct path to Satan. There is nothing normal about it” he said, “whether you want to accept it as fact or not: those sex toys are an open portal between demonic realm and your own life.”

While it’s easy to laugh at Major and anyone who believes what he writes the underlying message isn’t as funny. His letter raises far more serious issues in the fight for women’s rights. Sure most people don’t believe that masturbation will summon the devil but this type of thinking showcases how some members of society haven’t moved on since the Middle Ages.

It is worth remembering that, in the United States, hardline conservative Christian groups have long been a place of oppression for women’s sexual rights. Groups like the Pro-Life America movement advocate a zero tolerance policy towards abortion and wish to see women’s right to choose stripes from the US constitution. This was seen in last years horrific shooting at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs, by a perpetrator who believed that he was doing “God’s work.”

So well it’s okay to laugh at crazy religious people like Major because want they are saying is ridiculous. It is important to remember the school of thoughts he hails from and that he is not one crazy loner posting on his blog about his hatred of women and their sexuality. Instead, this religious belief directed towards women stems from a far more powerful movement who are trying to control women’s bodies, and sexuality in the name of religion.
