This Is How Much Emma Watson Will Earn From Beauty And The Beast
From devouring books that give her “ideas” to having absolutely zero tolerance for f**kboys (bye, bye, Gaston), Belle from Beauty and the Beast is the badass princess all girls want to be. So, its no surprise that Emma Watson’s feminist take on the classic production has skyrocketed straight to the top of the US box office after its first week in cinemas.
Beauty and the Beast has already made $350 million globally and broken five box office records during its opening weekend, so it's obviously prepared to be one of the biggest films of the year. Watson’s hard work is quite literally paying off; the 26-year-old starlet earned a respectable $3 million upfront for the film, but according to Hollywood Reporter, Watson stands to make up to five times that amount, depending on how well the film does. If Beauty and the Beast can ultimately earn around three-quarters of a billion, then Watson will take home a hefty $15 million, per THR. And if the promising forecasts are correct, then Watson will be walking away with that actual amount.
While we don’t know how much Watson’s co-stars were paid, we do know the feminist actress’s stance on the gender wage gap in Hollywood. Aka: Watson's not standing for any BS when it comes to asking for the paycheck she deserves. “We are not supposed to talk about money, because people will think you’re ‘difficult’ or a ‘diva,’” she told Esquire U.K. in 2016. “But there’s a willingness now to be like, “Fine. Call me a ‘diva’, call me a ‘feminazi’, call me ‘difficult’, call me a ‘First World feminist’, call me whatever you want, it’s not going to stop me from trying to do the right thing and make sure that the right thing happens.’”
