It’s getting to that time of year again… when the seasonal depression starts to kick in. The weather’s getting colder, days shorter, and everything outside starts looking like it's been run through a grey Instagram filter. This year, I’m not letting it get to me. I’m combating it with dopamine dressing – and yes, that means I’m buying every bright, bold color I can get my hands on.

I’ve always loved the idea that clothes can shift your mood, but I don’t think I ever realized how true it was until recently. One morning, I traded out my neutrals and blacks for a bright red sweater, and suddenly my gloomy commute felt a little less… apocalyptic. That’s the thing about color: it does something to you; it wakes you up, it gives you energy, it tells your brain, Actually, today might be good.

This winter, I’m choosing colors I used to save for summer – vibrant greens, hot pinks, electric blues, reds that make you feel alive. Winter tries its hardest to push us into neutrals and survival layering, but wearing bold colors in cold weather feels like the ultimate rebellion. It’s a small protest against the seasonal slump, and honestly? It works.

So yes, the sky might be depressing, and the sun may be clocking out at 4 p.m., but my closet? She’s thriving, she’s loud, she’s unbothered, and she’s keeping me afloat.
