Disability Aids Can Be Fashion
How some disability aids can double as accessories.
The disabled community are often tasked with changing fashion to fit their needs. So it's no wonder they modify their aids to fit their fashion.
Walking Canes
These are essential to so many disabled and elderly people. So it's no wonder they come in so many styles. Cane handles are an artform for some. You can find them in countless styles.
Wheelchairs
Wheelchair users are no stranger to customizing their aid. Wheelchairs alone come in many styles but when you add wheel covers, bags, and custom joysticks they can be an expression of self.
Hearing Aids
Often seen as uncool, hearing aids have taken massive aesthetic steps. There are invisible options, but there are also ways to style your hearing aids like earrings. There are numerous charms that can attach to the devices, jazzing them up in any way you see fit.
Earplugs
On the other side of the hearing aids are earplugs. These are often used by people who are neurodivergent. The most accessible brand is Loop, who have every color you could hope for. They are a super subtle accessory.
Finger Splints
Primarily used by people with arthritis or hypermobility. These splints are, to the outside viewer, just large rings. There are more traditional styles and more avant-garde styles on the market.
Prosthetic Limbs
Prosthetics that stray from the norm are often a lot more expensive than the generic ones. But for some that doesn't matter as much as the fun they can have with new looks.
