Warner Bros. has just dropped the official trailer for Paul Thomas Anderson’s newest film, One Battle After Another. This highly anticipated project marks a bold departure as it marries gritty street rebellion with high-stakes family drama. Leonardo DiCaprio, taking on his first role in an Anderson film, stars as Bob Ferguson—a scruffy, offbeat revolutionary on a desperate mission to save his daughter.

Revolutionary Story and a Star-Studded Cast

Drawing inspiration from Thomas Pynchon’s Vineland, the film follows Bob Ferguson as he navigates a chaotic world with nothing but his wits and unwavering resolve. The trailer opens with a quirky scene of Bob, clad in a beanie and bathrobe, fumbling through a crucial payphone call that goes off the rails when he misses a password. With no time to waste, Bob springs into action, determined to find his daughter at any cost. Joining him is an all-star ensemble including Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, Sean Penn, Alana Haim, Wood Harris, Shayna McHayle, Chase Infiniti, and a wise mentor played by Benicio del Toro.

A New Chapter in DiCaprio’s Journey

Scripted and produced by Sara Murphy and the late Adam Somner, One Battle After Another is DiCaprio’s first leading role since his riveting performance in Killers of the Flower Moon. The film promises a mix of dark humor, unexpected twists, and raw emotional intensity, culminating in a climactic moment when DiCaprio’s character bellows “Viva la revolución” as he leads his mentor into battle. Set to hit theaters on September 26, this film is poised to redefine the boundaries of cinematic storytelling with a fusion of revolutionary spirit and heartfelt family ties.
