Dhruv Kapoor SS 2022 Collection

The collection will have your head in the clouds, literally.

Milan Fashion Week is here and Dhruv Kapoor Spring/Summer 2022 collection took us on a trip to the skies and beyond, towards the unknown.

Dhruv Kapoor described the collection as “Exploring the “in-between”, which are liminal spaces- where social hierarchies may be reversed or temporarily dissolved, where continuity of tradition may become uncertain and future outcomes, once taken for granted may be thrown into doubt.”

Channeling surrealism for spring, the fashion film of the show started with powerful black and white imagery of a thunderstorm followed by an eclipse. Perhaps a sign of change allusive to the current times as we transition to the “new normal”.

Mystical, suspenseful music took us on a galactic journey, where sporty (varsity jackets) meets boxy tailoring (blazers and trench coats), cloud prints decorate silk, and stripped shirts and embellished smiley faces stand out from crisp white tops. Legs were on display in short shorts, culottes, and washed denim jeans slashed on the knees. The pastel tones of the collection created a harmonious balance between all the mix and matched prints and the 3D pockets are heaven on earth, to everyone that carries their house around on their back.

An accessory overload of macramé necklaces and sunglasses straps, laser-cut earrings, shaped like suns and people, keychain decorated belts, and bucket hats prove that this designer's attention to detail is like no other. Draped silhouettes juxtaposition with impeccable tailoring showcasing the brand's value, offering new perspectives that challenge the norm.

Dhruv Kapoor’s new collection is as dreamy as it is wearable, leaving us hoping for an optimistic future world that does not have to only exist in surrealist paintings.
