Dermaplaning Could Make Your Skin Feel Brand New

This treatment could be what your skin needs.

There’s many methods for taking care of your skin and dermaplaning has been a subject of intrigue in the online skincare community for a little while.

Dermaplaning is when you use a blade to remove hair and dead skin cells from your face. It’s often used as prep by estheticians before applying a chemical peel but can also be performed on its own at home as a method of physical exfoliation.

Dermaplaning can have benefits like making the skin on your face feel softer. Removing dead skin and hair can help skincare products enter your skin more easily and make makeup more easy to apply, allowing these things to work better.

First wash your face with a cleanser, prep with a lubricating oil before using a blade on your skin, scraping slowly in downward movements.  Afterward, you apply moisturizer and it’s all done. Depending on your needs you can dermaplane weekly, fortnightly, or once a month.

While many people choose to use oil or moisturizer to prepare before putting the blade to their skin, there are also hair identifier sprays fit for this purpose, which make it easier to see where peach fuzz is gathered so you can target it effectively.

It’s recommended to dermaplane at night, moisturize well, and use SPF the morning after because as your skin is in a more vulnerable state than normal, it’s key to make sure it’s well protected after this treatment.

You should also avoid dermaplaning over spots and pimples as doing so can irritate these issues. As with anything new to your body, always exercise caution. Do your research beforehand and speak to a GP or dermatologist for sound medical advice.
