Meet Daxi, The New Alternative To Botox

And why it's the talk of the town.

Once reserved for a selected few, neurotoxins in facial injectables have gradually become mainstream cosmetic procedures. Nowadays, injectable facial treatments are in great demand. Most people are familiar with Botulinum Toxin known as Botox, or Dysport. However, an innovative injectable has been garnering some serious buzz. Enter Daxi, a new weapon against pesky fine lines.

Daxi is the abbreviation for DaxibotulinumtoxinA. This product is manufactured by the American firm Revance Therapeutics. Just like its cousin Botox, Daxi is formulated to prevent muscles from contracting thus stopping the formation of fine lines and wrinkles. It is used to treat frown lines, upper facial crow’s feet, or marionette lines.

Compared to other injectables, the novelty of Daxi is the duration of the effects. Indeed, Botox tightening effects are immediate but temporary. They can last from twelve to sixteen weeks. Therefore, the patient has to get regular treatments to keep the rejuvenating results.

Daxi, on the other hand, is touted to provide longer-lasting results. According to Revance, patients could achieve a smooth complexion with as few as two sessions per year. This means fewer trips to the dermatologist’s office and fewer dents in the bank account. In those hard times, that’s good news.

The bad news is that Daxi is still awaiting FDA approval. However, it shouldn’t be long before the product is made available for all.
