Climate Activism From Gen Z

Teen Activist Ivy Jaguzny Won’t Let The West Coast Burn

POSTED BY ISOBEL COUGHLAN

It’s a known fact that gen Z is very open and passionate about the climate crisis. From Greta Thunberg to the many climate marches, the youth are changing the game and the world. Meet Ivy Jaguzny, a new figure on the eco scene.

Jaguzny is the press lead at Zero Hour; an organization that is youth led and focuses on climate and environmental justice. Members of the group share personal stories about the impact of climate change in their own lives. The group is also one of Well+Good’s 2020 Changemakers, these are the ‘movers and shakers that will change the face of wellness.’

Her own work started with a focus on civic engagement for youth in Washington, as part of the Washington Legislative Youth Advisory Council. ‘That’s when I started thinking of climate change as something that uniquely impacts youth because we are going to really face the effects of the forms of climate change.’ Jaguzny states. Seeing teens, like Jaguzny, take the future into their own hands is a positive reminder that all is not lost.
