Celebrate the Longevity of Stella McCartney

With her 2025 Resort Collection.

It’s a tale as old as time: female creative directors replaced by their male counterparts. Stella McCartney understands. She has been designing for her peer group since 1997 when she was appointed creative director of Chloé.

Unveiling her 2025 Resort collection, she described the balancing act of designing for women as a woman, “When I walk into a room, I don’t want my clothes to scream, but at the same time, I don’t want to wear anything that comprises who I am.”

It is this confidence and trust in herself that has created her dedicated following. With McCartney, you know exactly what you will be getting: transparency and accountability in the production of her collections alongside bold designs you cannot get anywhere else. Her identity is at the heart of what she produces, an element we should associate with her staying-power in the industry.

Her 2025 Resort collection celebrates what she does - and loves - best. Big-shouldered pantsuits and coats adorn the range with the tailoring you should expect from her. Her sensuously-wrapped dresses are ready-to-wear for date nights, nights hitting the town with you girls, or for work.

A common theme throughout? Nature and as per McCartney herself, “Horses! Because I can’t help myself.”

Her loyal following will remember that horses were a part of her childhood she fondly remembers. You can see this evident in a shadowy green print of a stampede across dresses or pajamas alongside the faux-leather chaps implanted in jeans.

Alongside this, McCartney set herself the task of a definite branding exercise. Think of the silver-like chains that adorn her iconic Falabella non-leather signature bags that turn 15 this year. Now look to the chunky metal chains knitted into the scoop of a gray knit tank or running down the outside leg of jeans. What a callback to something that has stood the test of time.

Stella McCartney continues to prove she is one of a kind and that she is here to stay, male-dominated world of fashion or not. It’s a shame other fashion houses cannot look to her and take some inspiration. She’s certainly worthy of it.
