Why I’ll Always Reach For Cargos
What other trousers have that many pockets?
If you were to ask me which type of trousers are the most practical, I would say cargos in a heartbeat. There is a dismal lack of spacious pockets on women’s trousers, and it bothers me every day, which is why I always find myself reaching for my cargos.
Some would argue that what cargos offer in comfort and convenience, they lack in style. I couldn’t disagree more. It’s true that not everybody has the cool streetwear style that cargos are often associated with, and as a girly girl, I don’t often see people who dress like me wearing them. But let me tell you, they’re missing out!
It was the influencer Estherxlinda on Instagram who put me onto cargos many years ago, with her colorful ensembles using them as a staple. As well as lacking pockets, women’s trousers often seem to lack belt loops, and everyone knows a fun belt can elevate an outfit.
To this day, I wear cargos at least once a week. My favorite combo is a pink baby tee, pink belt, and cream cargos because it’s so comfortable but never betrays my aesthetic.
