Burberry Celebrates Feminine Energy For AW21

The female aesthetic is forever evolving, along with the limitless representations of gender in fashion. All hail Burberry, who has paid tribute to both Mother Nature and the power of femininity in its Autumn/Winter 2021 presentation.

“I wanted this collection to feel truly emblematic of the power of feminine energy: a modern armour that captures its characteristic fierce aura,” explains Burberry’s Chief Creative Officer, Riccardo Tisci. “There’s an underlying attitude to the collection that’s very British; of being unique, eccentric, and totally authentic in how you express yourself.”

The fierce aura definitely transpires as the models cross paths down the catwalk in Burberry’s flagship Regent Street store in London. The collection challenges conventional ideas of ‘feminine’, mixing light, flowy garments and masculine shapes. Nude and black box-like hats are worn with pops of yellow, red, pink and orange clothing. A bright red two-piece suit steals the show as asymmetrical lines peep through underneath the sharp-edged blazer.

There’s great attention to detail in the pattern work and accessories. Chic items are embellished with gold sequins, and sci-fi goggle glasses are futuristic additions. Luxurious fur bags, dresses and earrings switch up the textures, while tassels move in all forms in time to the blaring club beats.
