Britney Spears Lands $15 Million Book Deal

Britney Spears has reportedly signed a major book deal with Simon & Schuster following a huge bidding war between publishers. The memoir is set to discuss her position as a child star and her journey to pop stardom. As well as these themes, the book is likely to discuss her relationship with her family and her life under her father’s conservatorship. 

The book deal was extremely sought after following Spears’ victory over her conservatorship which put in place in 2008 after she came out of rehab. This was after her father Jamie petitioned for courts to place her career and finances under his control which was only overturned in September of 2021 following the success of the #FreeBritney campaign. Spears' memoir offers her the opportunity to share her side of the story for the first time following her 13 years under the control of her father.

Britney is not the first of the Spears family to put pen to paper as her younger sister Jamie Lynn released her own memoir earlier this year. This caused a public row between the sisters as Britney accused Jamie Lynn of exploiting her story in order to sell her book and led many Britney fans to critique Jamie Lynn and her involvement in Britney’s conservatorship over the years. This suggests that there could be an interesting insight into the Spears family dynamic within the two memoirs.
