The Best Dressed At The 2021 BRIT Awards

Celebrities Showed Up And Showed Out In First Award Show To Not Require Face Masks

POSTED BY RAFAELA LUZURIAGA

The BRIT Awards are the latest in a year-long string of award shows to occur mid-pandemic, with one key difference — entirely live and no masks in sight. And doesn't that feel strange? After a year of having mostly virtual award shows and slowly seeing celebrities open up to showing up to events with strict social distancing rules and mask usage enforced, we are now beginning to see the first of the events which will spring us right back to normalcy. The 2021 BRIT Awards were, apparently, part of the British government’s trial events to explore safe ways for concerts to take place post-Covid.

Good news, we say, because it seemed to have given celebrities the motivation to show off both on the red carpet and on stage. Here are some of the night’s best dressed.

Dua Lipa

 @dualipa

After a string of stunning red carpet and stage moments, Dua Lipa’s outfit choice for the BRITs had much to live up to. We are happy to say that it exceeded expectations. It was Vivienne Westwood all night for this princess of pop. Showing up to the red carpet wearing a yellow, cowl neck mini dress with a train that draped to the side, as well as VW purple platform shoes to pair, we thought she was done serving looks for the night. Oh, how wrong we were. Lipa proceeded to pay tribute to Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice) with a VW British flag-emblazoned ensemble. Instantly iconic.

Little Mix

@littlemix

The “Best British Group” winner of the night arrived in coordinated all-white gowns, and proudly showing off soon-to-be moms Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Perrie Edward’s baby bumps. Third group member, Jade Thirlwall, was all-smiles all evening, embracing her bandmates tight. Leigh-Anne wore a sheer gown by Maison Margiela, Jade a cowl neck gown by Vivienne Westwood, and Perrie a dress by David Koma.

MNEK

@mnek

Singer MNEK might not have been nominated for any awards this year, but his suit certainly won the night. The artist showed up in a Robert Wun baby blue suit with wide pant legs and ruffles all around, as well as a matching clutch that almost disappeared in the abundance of fabric. Such a fabulous look had people taking pictures with MNEK left and right.

Rina Sawayama

@rinasonline

Extravagant and lovely, Rina Sawayama wore a fluffy lilac gown pulled straight from the archives at Balmain. As if the sheer volume created by the amount of fabric of the dress wasn’t enough, Sawayama dragged a train of the purple tule behind her. We can’t fault her for the drama — it’s what we’d choose to wear, too.

Olly Alexander

@ollyyears

While, granted, the young artist shined brightest on stage singing with no other than Elton John, we can’t help but want to shine a little light and recognition on his red carpet look. Olly Alexander began his night in a Gucci star print suit with feathery cuffs, styled over a blue shirt and paired with platform shoes. Remarkable.

Taylor Swift

@taylorswift

America’s Sweetheart showed up to the BRITs looking effortlessly glamorous and beautiful as ever. Wearing a white, head-to-toe diamante-embellished Miu Miu two-piece and her classic red-lip moment, Taylor Swift looked the part when she went on stage to receive the BRIT award for “Global Icon.”

Harry Styles

@onedirection_fabulous

Lastly, our generation’s revered fashion icon, Harry Styles. Perhaps not his most daring look, Styles’ square-patterned Gucci suit was certainly one to make the list for best dressed of the night. Cool, funky, a flare pant moment with shades of brown, cream, and pops of orange, the singer made a statement out of it by mellowing the look with some laid-back suede sneakers and a day handbag.
