Being A "Voyeur" To Electronic Jazz Is No Problem At All With Margrete

The Norwegian's new single releases on the 4th October.

POSTED BY ED LEES

The latest single from Norwegian electronic-jazz artist Margrete, entitled Voyeur, exceeds in living up to its title and encapsulates its surrounding themes well. This is due, in part, to the lyrics, which speak of a desire to feel something without suffering the actual consequences, with lots of references to trying instead of committing, in a sense, the longing for being a witness instead of a victim. The lyricism, coupled with her vocal delivery, makes this idea more acceptable and sincere than it could perhaps otherwise be interpreted.

Elsewhere, the song has a sense of grandeur and build-up thanks to the production, which is by Margrete herself. Often lauded for her production talents, The Line of Best Fit states she's "the only Norwegian Electronic-Jazz producer you need in your life."

The arrangement and production is undoubtedly experimental, feeling tropical and specific points, while the piano is used to regain the sense of familiarity with the song.

Voyeur will be available to stream from October 4.
