Ballet Flats Are The Must Have Shoe For Fall 2022

It’s official: ballet flats are officially back and an “it’ shoe for the fall. With platforms reigning these past few seasons, it’s been awhile since ballet flats have been in the spotlight. Earlier this year, balletcore had a huge surge in popularity and with it came the return of ballet flats. Ballet flats ruled during the 50’s and 60’s with style icons such as Audrey Hepburn and Princess Diana playing a major role in its popularity. Of course it also had a comeback in the mid 2000’s due to the favored style of casual wear and it being such an easy on the go shoe. There was also a major style influence from shows like Gossip Girl who were able to take ballet flats mainstream.
After taking time off for a few years, ballet flats have come back stronger than ever. They were seen sported on multiple F/W ‘22 runways with the most popular one being Miu Miu. With a rather simple silhouette and soft color options, the Miu Miu ballet flat went straight from the runway to being seen on the streets worn by various fashion influencers and celebrities. Such influencers include Jennifer Lopez, Katie Holmes, Alexa Chung and Devon Lee Carlson.
Ballet flats aren’t only being sported from Miu Miu, but have popped up with Chanel, The Row, Tory Burch, Maison Margiela and Ferragamo to name a few. As they always have been, ballet flats are proving to be a versatile shoe option that can be styled with nearly anything whilst simultaneously being comfortable to wear. It can be worn for practically any occasion, and if styled correctly it can be transeasonal. Ballet flats have come back with a vengeance for a reason and add that perfect touch of timeless elegance.
