Japanese sneaker behemoth ASICS this week released the new Asics GEL – 1130 Silhouette for Women. Proving that comfort and cutting-edge style aren’t mutually exclusive, the shoe’s iconic gel cushioning both optimizes physical performance and pays homage to retro classics of yesteryear – including the GEL – 1000 Series favored by martial arts legend Bruce Lee.
Strides ahead of the market in gender inclusivity (ASICS recently produced the first Australian women’s football and cricket shoes), the company’s new footwear campaign and collection- “Her Story” - features inspiring women from around the world including artist and choreographer Devon Suriya, Japanese pop star Marisa Yasukawa, and Jennifer Pauline; founder of “Black and Brown centered agency” With Creators.
The campaign explores the how each of these women achieve soundness of body and mind within their personal and professional journey. “ASICS” is an acronym of the Latin phrase meaning “sound in body, sound in mind.”It’s a philosophy that informs the design of all ASICS products.
