Alter Your Diet To Help The Climate
A healthy you and a healthy planet.
Most of us are aware of how climate change is affecting the planet—there’s now more carbon dioxide in our atmosphere than any time in history. We’re all doing our bit to lead a more sustainable lifestyle, and one of the ways we can do this is by adjusting our diet! Here are our tips to being a more sustainable consumer…
#1 Cut back on animal products
Now this is a pretty obvious one, and we’re not suggesting you go full veggie, but even reducing your intake by a small amount can make a huge difference! One third of Americans now identify as Flexitarian - mainly adhering to a vegetarian diet but occasionally eating meat. There are so many ways to incorporate plant based proteins into our diet; chickpeas, black beans and lentils are all great sources of protein and are super tasty! Your outfit won’t be the only thing you’re flexing…
#2 Embrace carbohydrates
The slimming world has told us to ease off the carbs, but they’re an important staple, particularly in the climate diet. Carbohydrates such as whole grains and potatoes are easy to grow across the globe and don’t require much rain or rich soil. Plus they’re not too costly, which is great if you’re on a budget!
#3 Load up on Veg
Not only are vegetables rich in anti-oxidants, making them great for overall skin and hair health. They’re also great for the environment, as they’re grown very quickly. You can also support your local community by taking a trip to your nearest farmers market.
