Alexander McQueen Celebrates The Spirit Runner Sneaker In New Short Film

Spirit Runner, a new Alexander McQueen short film, showcases the Spirit Runner sneaker, which debuted in the brand’s Spring/Summer 2022 Women’s show. From the creative mind of the acclaimed visual artist Sophie Muller, the video's thrashing beats and quick camera cuts underscore moments of athleticism. MetteNarative dances across a neutral-toned warehouse in black-and-white Spirit Runners, exercising the shoe’s sturdy structure.

MetteNarative pairs her Spirit Runners with long, flowing McQueen dresses in pink and black. A visual juxtaposition of traditional femininity and masculinity, the dresses swirl as she jumps, kicks, and turns with incredible technique. The film also features other forms of athleticism, from rope climbing to weightlifting to cartwheeling. Underwater shots feature MetteNarrative swimming while a bright light shines into the water.

Leather crafts the Spirit Runner, available in white, black, and blue colorways, with additional multicolored options. The laces are thick and lack metal eyelets, creating a clean look to the shoe’s upper. Thick soles curve in the arch and either maintain a monochromatic look or contrast colors. The flowery McQueen seal covers the shoe’s side and pops out in a textured design.
