Accessories That Make Beach Outfits Look Better
The perfect vacation-ready details to elevate the seaside looks.
When it comes to beach fashion, practicality usually takes over, as feeling comfortable becomes more important than creating a certain image. Plus, sometimes it feels like there’s barely any room for dressing up: you wear a swimsuit, throw an oversized tee or a cute dress on top, and call it a day.
But what if I told you it is completely possible to look effortlessly stylish by the seaside without feeling overdressed? It all comes down to the right accessories that make even the simple swimsuit look more intentional.
Here’s what you can add to your beach outfits—apart from sunglasses and hats, of course.

Sarong
Starting off with my personal favorite: the sarong. It’s much more comfortable for beach walks than the oversized tee we talked about earlier. Not only is it lightweight, easy to carry around, compact in your bag, and quick-drying, but it also instantly elevates the look, adding a breezy and relaxed feel.
The best part, however, is its versatility: there are countless fun ways to wrap a sarong, turning it into a dress, a skirt, or even a top.

Tote bag
Totes are probably the most comfortable bags to have by the seaside. They’re spacious enough to carry all the essentials while still feeling lightweight themselves. And, as a pleasant bonus, they make any outfit more polished and vacation-ready.
For a more coastal aesthetic, opt for straw or woven totes. You can also choose a basic canvas option with a fun ocean-inspired print, whether it’s sea waves, palm trees, turtles, or surf graphics.

Flower hair clip
Another accessory that is both practical and perfectly beach-coded is a flower hair clip. It completely shifts the mood of your outfit, adding that carefree tropical vibe, even if you’re spending the day at a local lake somewhere in the city.
I especially love how realistic these clips look, almost as if you tucked a real flower in your hair—very Lilo and Stitch- or Moana-inspired.

Waist chain
While waist chains probably aren’t the most practical accessory for swimming or sunbathing, they’re perfect for beach parties, vacations, or cozy seaside picnics, especially if you want to lean into a minimalist coastal-chic energy.
They look beautiful with swimsuits, subtly accentuating the waistline and sparkling under the sun. I also love pairing them with shorts, skirts, and sarongs, alongside bikinis or cropped tops.

Shell jewelry
Well, this one’s quite obvious, but what can I say? Shell jewelry is the ultimate beach accessory, perfectly embracing the mermaidcore aesthetic. And the options are nearly endless: necklaces, rings, earrings, bracelets, anklets, and even hair rings that add a special kind of charm to your seaside look.
For a more playful mood, try mixing the shells with colorful bracelets to create a layered set. I personally love how they look with macramé and glass or acrylic seed beads. Together they create that effortless beach-boho mood that never really goes out of style.
