There is no universal remedy for grief and loss but when you are a true artist like Abimaro you can turn that pain into a delicate song. ‘Without You’ is a track that preserves someone who's gone in a song, in a profound, sensitive and extremely genuine way.

This is not a novelty for Abimaro, an artist from South-East London who likes channelling vulnerability in her music. That’s how she describes the track ‘I wrote it after experiencing loss and wanting to put those feelings into words to mark them, to honour that person in a way.’

Yet while one life ends, the other starts and this paradoxical cycle is perfectly expressed by Abimaro who was heavily pregnant when recording ‘Without You.’ ‘I love hearing it back because I can really hear the difference in my voice from my other releases, and I love that. It will always hold a really special time of my life in this record,’ she admits.

‘Without You’ is out on streaming services but this is not the end of surprises from Abimaro. Together with her sister Lakwena, famous for her colorful murals in London, she has an exhibition at The Color Factory, NYC. She’s a real artist who creates for both ears and eyes.
