Who doesn’t love ABBA? The hit Swedish group which dominated charts in the 70s and is still adored today have revealed that they will be touring again… well their avatars are. Since the band disbanded in 1983, their reunion has long been anticipated and the delayed tour is finally coming to fruition.

First revealed in 2017, the ‘ABBAtars’ tour was set to go ahead in 2019, and it was revealed that the group were recording new material for the first in 35 years, also set for release in 2019. But so far the tour and tracks have not appeared.

In an interview with The Times, Bjorn Ulvaeus revealed that due to the inevitability of ageing Agnetha Faltskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad now sang in a slightly lower pitch, “their voices are about one tone lower, perhaps.” But he assured that “it still sounds very much ABBA.”

As a reward for fans being so patient for the tour, Ulvaeus revealed that ABBA have recorded five new songs, instead of the original two, which will be premiered at the reunion shows.

The tour will feature holograms of each member because although the group “had fun” being back in the studio, he explained none of them really wanted to tour themselves. Ulvaeus revealed that touring was never loved by the group, “we had a 10-year career and out of that, we may have toured six months.”

Two tracks have been confirmed out of the five new releases, ‘I Still Have Faith In You’ and ‘Don’t Shut Me Down’. In 2018, Ulvaeus described one as “a pop tune, very danceable,” and the other as “more timeless, more reflective. That is all I will say.”

So whilst we’re waiting for more details and the new tracks, we’ll be listening to ABBA Gold. Don’t worry, we’ll keep you updated!
